3 Types of Latex
100% Natural Latex vs. Pure Latex vs. Natural Latex
100% NATURAL LATEX
100% Natural Latex is a natural, renewable product of the rubber tree making it a “green” product. This latex is naturally :
- non carcinogenic
- non toxic
- Naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew.
100% Natural Latex is more elastic and resilient than other synthetic latexes and foam products. All natural latex does a better job relieving trigger point discomforts while allowing a person to roll side to back or side to belly effortlessly which prevents disruption of natural sleep patterns. This product does not “sleep hot” unlike other foams.
“Natural Latex” sounds all natural but really is a blended material and can contain cancer causing carcinogens and petroleum based oils. While natural latex is used, up to 20% filler material is also incorporated. These added materials decrease the natural benefits of an all natural latex.
“Pure Latex” contains 80% synthetic latex, blended with other materials making it much less durable and may cause allergic reactions in some persons. Most mattresses on the market use this synthetic latex which contains harmful cancer causing carcinogens. Pure latex is also known as styrene butadiene rubber or SBR. Styrene is toxic to the lungs, liver, and brain. Pure latex is not as healthy or safe as 100% natural latex but is used because it is much cheaper for the manufacturer.
